Yep, me too. I've had gasburners tell me that because my Force will barely
break 60, I'm driving a dangerous vehicle. The usual mantra is "Around here
you get run over if you drive the speed limit."

Well, gang, I refuse to waste energy. I drive the speed limit no matter
what I'm driving.

I stay in the slow lane. I get passed. So what? So do the slow trucks.

In rush hour, which I admit I detest and try to avoid, I'm going so much
slower than the average speed that most drivers see me (or they see the SUVs
streaming around me) long before they get to me. While I do get tailgaters
now and then, usually because they are waiting impatiently to get to their
exits, most give me a wide berth.

If I tell the gasburners who complain about my car's top speed that there
are plenty of fast EVs, they'll find some other reason that EVs are "no
good." They're really just making excuses. I could show them an EV that
reached 100mph, achieved 60mph in 7 seconds, and ran 250 miles on a charge,
and it wouldn't be good enough for most of them.

Face it, there are gasburners that we're never going to win over (at least
not without more effort than it's worth).

Some of them are just not sufficiently evolved, and they actually ~enjoy~
making noise and pollution. They ~like~ the idea that their vehicles can
crush small cars and kill their passengers. We can't do anything about
these people, except wait for natural selection to do its work. <g>

Others aren't opposed to EVs; they think EVs are a great idea for the other
guy. But they are soft and pampered, and unwilling to give up anything for
the sake of the future, theirs or their kids'. You can't even get them out
of their SUVs and vans and into mid-size gas hogs, much less into EVs. We
can write these people off, too.

That leaves a few well-educated people who are good EV candidates. They are
the ones buying hybrids, the bone which the automakers have thrown them.
Many of them could probably be switched to EVs in the right circumstances.

Unless they're forced to switch, probably by legislation, the rest aren't
likely to budge until they absolutely have to. I'm afraid "ciivilization"
is just gonna keep going like this until the oil is gone. But you might
want to start thinking about anti-theft devices for your EV, for the day
when a lot of people ~really~ want one, and can't get one.
