Look at the GO pedal then look slightly up and to the right. The plastic cover there can be popped off (gently squeaze it thinner) and you will see the end of the heater core. Now to get it out I think you have to partly remove the heater box assembly (you could cut the pipes, but I think it would still interfere with the pedals sliding out). Removing the heater assembly from a Rabbit is not hard, but I would refer you to your favorite book on the things as there are some wire plugs and cables to disconnect in addition to 4 nuts and one screw.
