This is about as good as it get when it comes to utilizing wind with most any
vehicle, including an EV. I recall reading that Tom Monahan, of Domino's Pizza
fame, was going to utilize a fleet of them, supplemental power provided by
batteries, to deliver Pizzas in Ann Arbor, MI but it never materialized. A
more recent version, the Amick A2, made an appearance at the Detroit Maker
Faire in 2010.

It's almost as if there are two types of people: those for whom these ideas
are so stunningly wrong and obvious, and those who say: "No this isn't a
perpetual motion idea, I'm just using the windmill to gather energy from the
wind that goes by the car as I drive it." I've had these folks consider the
much more "efficient" idea of using a trailer with a wheel-driven generator
in it... and then have them consider where the energy comes from to move the
trailer. One time this seemed to be working, with some glimmer of
understanding, but then, after conceding that the windmill idea wouldn't
work, he started talking about a generator connected directly to one of the
vehicle's wheels.
