From: "Ken Fry" <[email protected]> If there was any energy created by the wire, it would require more of the vehicle's energy to propel, just like all forms of gen on the wheel activity. It comes at a price. My guess is that you could save more energy, by putting the antennae down, decreasing the wind resistance.
I put OT because this is a little off topic, even though it has to do with Electric Cars. There are so many ways to make an EV Noticeably more efficient, but most people don't bother because the effort doesn't seem worth the pay back. If we are of the mind set, that it takes a person 5 hours of Hard Peddling a Bicycle Generator to generate 1 Kw of power, we might want to be more conservative. Here is a short list that comes to mind of what could save the most energy. And I will leave it up to others to debate. this is just off the top of my head 1. Some kind of under sheathing to create less aero drag on the bottom of the car and around the wheels. 2. Some form of Re gen Braking 3. a more aerodynamic front end and rear end. 4. a suspension that lowers the car for highway traveling 5. a suspension that generates electricity from the bumps 6. a system for circulating the water through the controller that does not an electric water pump. ( Something along the line of the way some solar water heaters use the hot water to create the circulating by having the cooler up higher). 7. Solar panels could be used, but this is a tricky area, because of the added weight and wind resistance. In the world we live in right now, energy is so cheap, we get a "guy peddling a bike for 5 hours " for 11 cents so we aren't going to work very hard to save a penny.
