All:
I believe the archive footage mostly came from the First EV Conference in DC
sometime in 1974. Since this "movie" was sponsored by
Renault, I figured it would be one long product endorsement for them. I
never met their "expert" and his disparaging remarks on the CitiCar but they
seem to be in line with what a lot of people believe about our little cheese
wedges on wheels. This is one of the reasons I have been fostering the C-Car
Gatherings around the country, so that the public view of our early EV's may
yet change!?
When I first talked with the producer on the phone from Paris, they just
wanted some pictures of early post war EV's. I was able to convince them
that the CitiCar and Bobs contribution to the EV's future was more important
than a footnote. I did get them to talk with Dina Beaumont as well and I
believe between the two of us we were able to get them to add as much about
Bob and the CitiCar as they did. I am sorry they did not include any
information on Bob's appearances before the US congress on behalf of the
then infantile EV industry and his importance to where we are today.
Do we have any would be film makers out there willing to take on this
project?

A year or two back I was interviewed for a movie called the Electric Car

of the comic relief about half way through this movie that runs just under
an hour.

Peter, Thanks for the link. I saw that a while back on TV (the 'Renault'
channel on FreeSat here in the UK) but it was nice to see it again.
Rather well done and considering Renault made it I thought it quite broad in
scope and not especially Renault-centric.
I have been reconsidering my intention to buy a Tesla Model S since the EU
pricing was released a few weeks back. Despite T's stated intention of not
making non-US markets pay any more for their cars than US buyers (allowing
for export costs and local taxes) it stings to see that we will have to pay
a UK£16k premium on US prices. The Zoe may fill the gap, for me at least.
Unfortunately, unlike the Fluence there does not appear to be a cheaper
battery lease option than £70/month and as I also ride a Vectrix I will not
be getting much value for money from that £70. If it were half that monthly
cost, for the 3k miles I'd be likely to do per year, it would be a very
simple decision.
In any event, the Zoe is still not in the UK yet - Summer apparently - but I
will pop into my local Renault dealer for a chat as things are beginning to
hot up.
It does seem rather a shame that the entire US won't even get a look-in due
to Renault not having any presence there. Perhaps the ZE range of EVs will
force a change there.
