You know your rhetoric was relevant up until a couple of years ago but if you
look around now you can see that OEMs are actually building production EV's
that you can own. Nissan just recently announced they have sold over 50,000
Leafs and they are far from the only OEM EV you can walk into a dealership and
buy right now. I know in the grand scheme of things 50,0000 is not a lot, but
it is much more than we have ever seen before and a couple of orders of
magnitude greater than the 150+ EV's you have proudly put on the road.

Granted I live in the ubber green Pacific NW, but I see Nissan Leafs on the
road every day. I see at least a Chevy Volt a week and occasionally I even spot
a Mitsuibishi iMev, all on the road and being driven around, and I work from
home so I am not even out on the road much and when I am it's usually not more
than 5 miles from home.

As far as price goes, there are actually some pretty sweet deals to be had.
The lease deals on the Nissan Leafs are practically paying you to drive them
for the first couple of years and then the buyout price is not bad when the
lease runs out. Even buying outright is not bad compared to other brand new
cars. You still pay a premium, but it's not like paying $30,000 for a GEO
Prism.

I see no reason to doubt that BMW will bring out an EV. It might not be
marketed to you or me, but EV's are getting a pretty good toe hold and there
does not seem to be anything looming out there that looks like it is going to
cause it to come to an end. If they catch on with more mainstream buyers like
the Prius did, there may be a fairly strong market and good competition for
quite a while. The day of having to DIY might have already come to an end.
