I think you are quite mistaken.

This is EXACTLY the kind of press that EV's need to shake off the 'golf
cart' stereotype and be considered the performance machines they are.  R&T
has a HUGE audience of regular blokes and doctor's waiting rooms and such.
 Showing the Tesla doing doughnuts will cement in every reader's minds that
EV=high power.  Believe it or not, people respect power above all else.
 This is why dorky low-power EV's have never gained any traction with
mainstream society and never will.

Please remember that most people are of average intelligence, and a
stunning 50% are below that.

So yes, it is like marketing a go-kart to 12-year-olds.

That is the reality.
