Hi scott, Step one will be to buy an on board charger. A lot of people like Manzanita Micro chargers (http://www.manzanitamicro.com); I have one in my conversion. I haven't been very happy with it:
http://www.corbinstreehouse.com/blog/2012/09/plug-bug-pfc-30-charger-failed-again/ I would recommend an EMW charger: http://www.emotorwerks.com Much more modern, and can charge much faster, and a decent price. You want a PFC charger for sure. I'm pretty sure the latest one can also deal with the J1772 signal properly; which is pretty much a first for chargers that we can buy (for the DIY crowd, and assuming without implementing it yourself like I did). After you get that..you have to also get some adapter box for J1772. There are various sources. corbin On Mar 27, 2013, at 9:45 AM, Scott Ford <[email protected]> wrote: > Hello All, > > I am the proud new owner of a 1985 VW Cabriolet 120v EV.(1st EV) The > vehicle will soon have 20 brand new US Battery US-125 xc2 flooded lead acid > 242AH batteries.
