Hi scott,
Step one will be to buy an on board charger.  A lot of people like Manzanita 
Micro chargers (http://www.manzanitamicro.com); I have one in my conversion. I 
haven't been very happy with it:

I would recommend an EMW charger:

Much more modern, and can charge much faster, and a decent price. You want a 
PFC charger for sure. I'm pretty sure the latest one can also deal with the 
J1772 signal properly; which is pretty much a first for  chargers that we can 
buy (for the DIY crowd, and assuming without implementing it yourself like I 
did).

After you get that..you have to also get some adapter box for J1772. There are 
various sources.
