Not sure if this would be an.option for the person who started this topic, but I just decided to forego power steering altogether in my 97 S10. I switched to manual steering; it involved replacing my steering gearbox with a manual one from an earlier model and getting rid of the PS pump. It means working a little harder but I manage.
