This is somewhat disingenuous because that price doesn't include cables.
I don't believe it's proper to say you're selling an EVSE "kit" unless
it includes all the parts. A 30amp J-1772 cable is going to run almost
$200. You'll need to spend at least $20 more for the cable going to your
house. $300 plus assembly is definitely not 8 times cheaper than a $593
Bosch 30 amp EVSE (I note the kickstarter page says 4 times cheaper).

I'm not saying anything against their device. The premium one ($200 +
cables) looks like it has some nice features. But I disagree with them
understating final cost by 30-50%.

I just built an OpenEVSE
(http://code.google.com/p/open-evse/wiki/EVSE_by_rbeebe) for $540. I
could have built it closer to $300 but I opted to have the board built
for me and went with a somewhat premium enclosure. But I don't think it
would be fair for me to be telling you all what a great deal it is
because "the OpenEVSE kit is only $135! Much cheaper than the lowest
cost EVSE you can buy!"
