The craziest thing about these bikes is that the tires for them cost
more than your car tires.
I believe that the list price for them is $160.
A conversation with a friend of mine who is a bike expert about this and
the reason is that specialized bike tires are a niche market where the
cost of the mold and development has to be recouped in only small
numbers of tires. It's hard to find a market for 50,000 tires (the
economic sweet-spot), so the cost has to be spread over only a few
thousand tires where the mold alone probably costs at least $50-100k.
