I have been using a spring retractable charging cable for years on my Elise EV. Its fitted where the exhaust used to be and exits via a transparent flap through the exhaust pipe hole. At 12 metres it reaches most 13A sockets although the main charge socket is in the usual position with a 2 pole change over relay switching between the two.
