Flooded NiCd cells tend to be very durable. They can sit for years totally
flat and still come back fine, unlike lead batteries. In fact, flat is the
preferred way to store them. Some folks recommend storing them shorted!

So, before buying anything, you might want to try resurrecting the ones you
have. Give them a long, very slow charge (starting at an amp or less).
Don't add water yet, even if you can't see any in the cells! It sort of
hides as they self-discharge. They should be watered only at the end of a
charging cycle. Again, this is counter-intuitive for folks raised on lead
batteries.

If you get nowhere, and they're Saft brand, you might contact Saft about
possibly refurbishing them.
