Take a look at my Battery Balancer system. There's a link to it at
http://www.sunrise-ev.com/LeesEVs.htm (the 6th item down the list).
The Balancer uses an inexpensive BASIC Stamp2 microcomputer to select
each battery, check its voltage, and charge or discharge it as desired.
You can duplicate it from the information on the website, or buy bare
boards, or a kit, or even an assembled unit.
Most of the cost is in the relays. I typically use big 30amp power
relays so I can do capacity tests, fast charge, and other work. You can
actually use any size relay you want -- that makes it a lot cheaper.
