The piece nor its associated PR, addressed those drivers that do not use a web-enabled device that can run their app (i.e.: an applicable smart phone). BTW, Plugshare was bought by Recargo. A while back I was hot in using Recargo, but much has changed, and so has what I use: I now mainly use Plugshare and the afdc.energy.gov sites for EVSE/charging-site searches. I do not have a smart phone, so I too am in that boat -load of drivers that could not use the aforementioned Plugshare app. It looks like the plugin community needs a driver/plugin-interested-person to step-up and contact Plugshare, asking the question: -How can this one-payment-system work for the non-smart-phone driver? Here is recargo's contact info: http://www.recargo.com/news Recargo Press Contact: Lauren Burke Lauren @bluepractice.com (415) 381-1100 http://www.recargo.com/contact LA Office 1015 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice, CA 90291 info @recargo.com Phone: (310) 450-3333 , Fax: (310) 450-3334 Bay Area Office 1010 Doyle St, 2nd Floor, Menlo Park, CA 94025 info @recargo.com Fax: (650) 332-0092 Those that have gotten an answer please post what they find-out. ... On a different point ... Technology has changed our world. Smart-phones are part of that changed world. While some may say that these hand-held devices are more of an addiction than a help to society, there are many of them out-there (it is almost like one would be 'left-behind' if you did not have one'). I have a piece I will be posting that has designed the EV with a smart-phone slot so as to use it as part of the dash cluster (the smart-phone does all the work and display, etc.). Small hand-held devices applied to EV use is nothing new. Years ago (late 1990's), the GM EV1-Club drivers used palm-pilots mounted on the dash and connected to the EV1's serial port to display important info/data. See the bottom portion of http://www.eanet.com/ev1-club/books.htm So, I suggest that plugin drivers post: - who uses a smart phone -do they use an app for driving -are there affordable models that can run the apps drivers will need/want ... etc. It might be, that non-smart-phone using drivers might be uninformed/ignorant as to the actual costs, and uses of these devices. I would think it would less about being hip, and more about using the advantages of affordable current technology toward plugin driving needs. I will admit that I have not used them. This came clear when at the Silicon Valley Rally last Sat., Electric-cross-country-veteran-driver Terry Hershner https://www.facebook.com/lifeoffthegrid asked me to take a picture using his smart-phone, and I found myself in unfamiliar territory (?What button do I push?). Someone else stepped up to take over. Terry was kind enough to invite me to be in the photo (though it made me look like I am a photobombing geezer). That experience left me with an-impetuous/a-reason to go familiarize myself with smart-phones on a regular basis. I not only want to be able to use them when asked again to take a picture for someone, but when I get another plugin, I am going to want to use all the apps written for plugin drivers. These apps would be applicable for more than just Production plugins. ...
