The city I live in, New Haven, Connecticut, recently rolled out a new system for parking meters called Park Mobile. Every meter has a sticker on it with an ID number, a QR-code, a URL and a phone number. You start by either downloading the ParkMobile app to your smart phone or by going to their web site to sign up and link a payment method (credit card or paypal). When I park at a meter I run their app on my smart phone and scan the QR-code. It asks how much time I want and charges me. I get notifications 15 minutes before the time runs out and I can extend from wherever I am using the app. However, if I don't have a smart phone I can call the phone number and read them the number on the meter and get charged that way. There's no reason a similar system couldn't work for the Plugshare stations. And/or they could add a credit card reader. After all, almost every gas pump has one now. It's not clear to my why these EVSE vendors think they have to invent something new. I would actually price it something like a taxi meter. x cents per kWh delivered followed by y cents per hour you're sitting there plugged in (to discourage squatting). --Rick _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org For EV drag racing discussion, please use NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA)
