You might want to dig up a Homeowner's Service Manual for a GE Elec-Trac tractor. They have exactly this safety circuit, and you could no doubt duplicate it. Page 1-36 of the HOSM describes the circuit and how it works in the E15 and I think also the E20 model. The E8, E10 and ER8-36 design is even simpler, almost absurdly so. It doesn't lock out the drive motor when you leave the seat - climb back on and it goes! - but it does drop out the mower motor contactor. The mower switch is a run/start spring loaded toggle reminiscent of an ICEV's start- run keyswitch. Contact me off list if you want schematic jpegs and/or manual pdfs for any of these ETs.
