AC Electric Car Conversion
By Bill Temple [11/14/2013]

You've decided to do your own AC electric car conversion. You have the
choice of installing either DC or AC electric motors in your conversion car,
however AC is definitely the way to go. The advantages far outweigh the one
small disadvantage.

AC motors are lighter for the power output; they come with motor
controllers, and have regenerative braking installed in most models (more on
this later). They do, however cost a bit more because of these benefits,
this being the only disadvantage of AC over DC motors for your electric car
conversion.

What do you need to start?

 - Detailed plans on AC electric car conversion

 - A workspace- garage, shop or some similar place, or even your laneway.

 - Common tools available in most homes

 - A reliable helper for holding parts and lifting some heavy objects.

You will first need a vehicle to do the conversion on; a good list of the
greatest cars and trucks to use is available in the plans. We have done 3 AC
electric car conversions now and feel that small trucks are best. We used an
older model Toyota for our last conversion and it worked out very well.

It is light and there is quite a bit of room to place batteries (you need 20
or so) in the frame or in the box of the truck. After locating the vehicle
you want to use, you will have to remove all of the gas engine and exhaust
parts. It really doesn't take long, and you have the option of purchasing a
car without the engine at some wrecking yards. This saves a lot of time and
expense for you.

You can then start your ac electric-car conversion. The AC motor is attached
directly to the transmission with a simple adaptor kit. Battery placement is
probably the most difficult part of the project and the detailed plans show
you many options available. It's important to balance the weight of the
batteries with your carrying capacity. More batteries means longer range
between charges however also reduces room for passengers or cargo. The
choice is yours depending on your driving habits.

After your AC electric car conversion is done and you take your first drive
you won't be able to stop smiling, especially when you drive by a gas
station and don't have to stop. With a range of over 200 miles and top
speeds of 50 mph your electric car will drive just like any vehicle on the
road, except- no gas!

Did you know that gas prices are expected to rise to $7 per gallon by next
year?

Isn't it time you did something about this situation for you and your
family? Let's get started.

Learn AC electric car conversion is the greatest place to start to do your
own conversion and start saving money and the environment by not using
petrol in your new electric car.

Our family has been living off the grid since last year, and loving every
minute of it. Doing our first AC electric car conversion has really helped
us tremendously, saving money and we don't produce any toxic fumes anymore
either.

Electric Car Plans
By Bill Temple

You've decided to build your own electric car and now you need reliable
electric car plans. We've found some good plans that we will share with you
to get you started.

First, what do you need to begin?

- Simple tools found in any household workshop- saws, drills, wrenches etc.
- A place to work- shop, garage, barn or even outside is fine
- Detailed electric car plans

Before you get started you will need a vehicle to do the conversion with. I
say conversion because any vehicle will work for this project, however some
are better than others. Gas or diesel doesn't matter as you will be removing
the engine anyways, and everything related to fuel and exhaust.

Your new electric car will produce no fumes either. We think that's great.

You will need a vehicle with a standard transmission though. Automatic
transmissions just don't work with electric motors for cars.

Don't worry; you won't have to learn how to drive a standard though if you
don't know how. Your electric car will drive just like an automatic. Just
put it in gear and drive. It's that easy, no shifting in town at all.

When you pull up to the stop light for instance the electric motor just
stops. It's all explained in detail in the electric car plans.

Your new electric car will have great acceleration too. We were amazed at
how fast it was off the line in town.

Your electric car will be able to go 50 mph and have an effective range up
to 200 miles on a single charge depending on your choice of vehicles and
your driving habits.

We kind of lean towards using small trucks now that we have done 3
conversions ourselves. Small-trucks like the older Toyota Tacoma (around
1995 or so) offer a lot of room for battery placement. They are light and
strong too, a perfect combination for this project.

Small cars work well too, however offer fewer options for battery placement.

Our greatest range vehicle is actually our Toyota Corolla, well over 200
miles between charges.

This is not a difficult project either although you will need a helper at
times. Those extra hands when you are attaching the DC motor are needed.

How much does it cost?

You can build your own electric car for only a few hundred dollars
(including the cost of the detailed plans). If you use the sources of free
batteries and free DC motors found in the electric car plans you can keep
the cost down to a very reasonable level.

Imagine the first time you drive by a gas station while others are filling
up. Did you know that gas is expected to reach $7 per gallon next year?

Isn't it time you did your own electric car conversion? Let's get started.

Electric Car Plans is the greatest place to start to do your own conversion
and stop paying outrageous gas prices at the pumps; it really isn't that
difficult and makes a great family project with detailed electric car plans.

Our family has been living off the grid since last year, and loving every
minute of it. We were excited to find electric car plans and get started on
our own, saving money and petrol costs.

Electric Truck Conversion
By Les J Oke

You've decided to do an electric truck conversion and now you need detailed
plans to get you started. Doing the conversion is not that difficult if you
follow these simple steps.

Find a place to work- shop, garage etc. Get your tools ready, saws, cordless
drill, wrenches etc. Locate a decent small truck to convert Get detailed
electric truck conversion plans

It is a good idea to use a small truck for this conversion because they are
light and strong. Unlike small cars they also have lots of room for battery
placement. Since the number of batteries determines your effective range
this makes a small truck a good choice. We recently completed a conversion
on a Toyota Tacoma and it worked great.

Remember that you will need a standard transmission truck to start with.
Automatic transmissions just don't work with electric motors. Don't worry
though, if you only know how to drive an automatic, your electric truck
conversion will drive just like an automatic. Just put it in gear and go.
It's pretty simple and does it go... We were amazed at the acceleration
which left a lot of people staring at us as we zipped between stop lights in
town. This isn't a slow moving golf cart as some people seem to think. Your
electric truck conversion will keep up with any vehicle in town and travel
50 mph on the highway. With a range of over 200 miles, as outlined in the
detailed plans it will take you where you want to go, when you want to get
there.

The two main parts to an electric truck are batteries and a motor. We chose
a large 11 inch DC motor for our conversion and this allows us to haul loads
of even firewood with the truck. What impressed us most is that the plans
even outlined sources of free deep cycle batteries that we could use in our
truck. Since batteries are one of the largest expenses (you need 20 or so)
this really helps keep the cost manageable - a big plus for the budget
minded family. And isn't that why you are doing this conversion? To save
money... You will save lots of money too on both fuel and repairs as the
electric truck is much more reliable. For the cost of one repair bill with
your present vehicle you could be driving an electric truck conversion.

The first time you drive by a gas station you will know precisely what we
mean. Did you know that gas is expected to rise to $7 per gallon by next
year? Isn't it time you did your own conversion too. Let's get started.
Electric Truck Conversion is the greatest place to start to do your own
conversion and start saving money and the environment; you can do your own
electric truck conversion too.

Our family began living off the grid in 2001 and we have never looked back.
Doing our own electric truck conversion has helped our family save money and
gas, you will have the same great results.
