This years LA Auto Show is unveiling a number of new all electric cars. One
attracting quite a bit of attention is the New Fiat 500e that went on sale
last summer.

All electric cars are becoming more affordable, and more popular, in part
due to a campaign to place 1 million electric vehicles on California roads
in the next ten years. That is especially true here in California - which
remains the king of hybrid & all electric cars.

I spent the day at the Los Angeles Auto Show Press Day last week in search
of the greenest cars on the planet.

I selected four all-electric vehicles to blog about. Two new for 2014, the
BMW i3 and Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive. I also looked at two
late-model 2012 all-electric cars, the Fiat 500e and the Chevy Spark-EV

For this Blog - we look at the new Fiat 500e all-electric. Unlike the new
BMW i3 and Mercedes Benz B-Class electric drive, the Fiat 500e looks like a
small piece of Italian art combined with rocket ship like performance. The
electric version mirrors what's inside and outside the gas powered 500, but
what is under the hood is quite different.

Fiat is only selling the 500e in limited numbers, but the little electric
vehicle is making a big impact on some of the performance-car-journalism
set. In fact Road & Track named it its "Best Electric Car of 2013."

Like all of us green-car aficionados, R&T appreciated the car's 87-mile
single-charge range, adding that the 500e could regularly crest 100 miles
between charges in city driving. But the publication was also big on the
acceleration delivered by the car's 111-horsepower electric motor as well as
its handling and regenerative-braking system, paying it the ultimate
compliment by calling it "a no-compromise EV."

I met up with Ariel Gavilan, spokesperson for Fiat Small Car Production for
an interview to talk about the companies entry in the all-electric car
market.
