The 7-11's out where you are seem to be more friendly. I learned quickly
to not ask the 7-11's in the SF area. I got more than a no, I got a look
like I was going to break their bank account, even though I offered to
pay.

BTW, I have updated the original post to have the latest copy-cat
newswires on the topic (see above URL). Looks like the news outlets are
equally divided between, "those darn electrical things!" and " an
injustice for only $5 cents!". This is being too-well covered by the
media.
