Modified using real panels from iconic Piaggio scooters, the 'Zero Scooter'
can be customised in different colours and is on sale for €2,899 (£2,400 or
almost $4,000).

A Catalonian design house has clad a Segway in vintage Vespa parts to create
a new scooter that is self-balancing, silent and can scale hills

The vehicle can be produced in different colours and finishes and a basic
version costs €2,899 (£2,400 or almost $4,000)

Segways and Vespas are two of the most distinctive vehicles on the roads.

But now a Catalonian company has created the ultimate attention-seeking
machine – a Segway that has been clad in Vespa parts.

ZERO SCOOTER SPECIFICATIONS
Top speed: 20mph
Range: 19 to 22 miles (30 to 35km)
Weight: 51kg but can carry 180kg
Power: 2,000W
Batteries: Lithium
Motors: Twin 1.34 horsepower motors
On-board: Gyroscope control system and CPU

While the Zero Scooter might at first glance look like a funny-shaped Vespa,
it is also recognisable as a Segway – the self-balancing, battery-powered
electric vehicle that was first unveiled in 2001.

The Spanish scooter is electric, built by hand and can be customised by
colour and finish, as well as by adding logos.

The vehicle has a top speed 12.4mph (20kmp) and can carry 180kg.

Bel & Bel, the Catalonian design house behind the quirky vehicle, claims it
is the only scooter able to climb slopes up to 30° and can turn 360° on the
spot thanks to its two independent motors.

Zero Scooter

Because the scooter is electric it is environmentally friendly and virtually
silent, despite resembling a classic petrol scooter designed in 1946.

Its designers claim it is easier to use than an ordinary Segway as the
personal vehicle does not move under foot or lean when a person first climbs
on, instead remaining completely stable.

Available from Maxihobby, the production time for the vehicle is around 15
days, but the company typically takes around six weeks to complete a vehicle
from start to delivery, Inventor Spot reported.
