Deka's GEL batteries are so consistent in manufacture that they do very well 
in EV use without any balancing gadgets at all.  

However, Deka's AGMs are of a different design and origin.  I wouldn't 
assume the same is true of them.  

Still, it can't hurt to try balancing them and seeing how well they stay 
there, as long as you're monitoring them fairly closely.

Connect the 4 batteries in parallel and leave them that way for as long as 
you can - at least a week or two.  This may not totally equalize the state 
of charge among them, but it will at least tend to equalize the VOLTAGE.  
The only way I know of to equalize SOC any better is to charge each battery 
(ideally, each cell) individually with a DV:DT profile.
