We went to a gravel yard that is about 5 miles away and picked up a load of gravel... Scott is very happy with the set up and that's what counts.
Great work, Steve! I'm sure you can whittle away at the losses, and improve efficiency as you experiment with it.
One other thing that might be fun to try. Solar panels make little sense on a car, because it doesn't have enough roof area. But a big truck or trailer does. :-) Maybe they would gather enough power to be useful on something like a school bus or or semi tractor-trailer that's used on a low miles-per-day basis.
