Or just turn on your EV electric heater to do a load test while the motor is not using any power.
I use a 2500 watt water heater immersion heater which I install into a 2 inch diameter copper pipe that water is pump with a 120 vac 60 hz 0.5 amp circulation pump design for hot water zone heating. A HoneyWell immersion temperature sensor is control by a on dash control. Another 3 inch diameter copper pipe by 36 inches long is the fill tank that sets in the same place that the existing engine radiator use to set. The heater lines ran to the existing hot water heater core. I use a transfer switch to either use commercial power to preheat the water or use the onboard 180 volt pack. I can read the voltage drop which is compare to the battery pack when new and now. Also I can read each cell voltage separately by using A Cal Val #545 cell tester. This type of testing is known as the cadmium tester where the probes are submersed into the electrolyte in two adjacent cells. I find that the 2500 watt immersion heater was too much, it would heat the water up to over 200 F. in less than 1 minute and would short cycle the thermostat sensor. Had to change it to a 1000 watt one. Roland f them for some canned farm goods. I strip the heating element out and mount it to the bottom of our greenhouse tables for early spring seedling heat. (Seed mats designed for the purpose cost hundreds of dollars!) A 6' baseboard dissipates 5kW at 240 volts, or 1.25kW at 120 volts. You can parallel or series various units to come up with just about any multi-kilowatt power dissipation you want. Do this in the winter and save on your gas or wood heating bill. (Do it in the summer, and add to your air-conditioning bill. :-) :::: Wouldn’t it be something to live in an era when every town and village has its own honored food farmers as well as its own revered artists, artisans, musicians, writers, restaurateurs and educators? -- Gene Logsdon :::: Jan Steinman, EcoReality Co-op :::: -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
