Bob, WB4APR, A removable range extender makes a lot of sense, you can have the increased range occasionally and not when it isn't needed, You can use it for a "Backup" in case of power outage at the home. (Also on "Field Day" Operations) and still drive the car. And you aren't limited to a Gasoline fueled generator Hybrid. and your car isn't carrying around that Generator and its fuel all the time increasing the electric consumption even on short trips to the store...
