Hello Buddy,

I am using one group 31 135 ah 12 volt deep cycle battery made by Trojan which
I install in 2002 which was replace in 2013 with a Interstate deep cycle
battery. A 12vdc to 120 vac 60 hz 5 kw inverter is use to run my heaters,
cooling pumps for the motor controller and fans.

Remember that when you draw 5 amps from the inverter, this is 50 amps from the
battery. (50a x 12v = 600watts or 600 watts /120vac = 5 amps at a 600 watt
heater.

I am using a Shumaker Smart Charger, that will charge Standard 12 volt, Deep
cycle 12 volt, AGM and GEL. It charges the accessory battery using the main AC
EV input which is circuit breaker down to 20 amp for this charger. It also
goes into a maintainer cycle and a power supply which powers a BMS unit.

I am also using a DC to DC converter (210 vdc to 13.5Vdc rated at 180 amps
maximum) that also runs the inverter while the EV is running. I am using a
micro switch on the accelerator control unit that turns on a contactor to power
the inverter only when the EV is coasting down hill or to a stop.

The output of the accessory battery is fuse with a Busman Semi Conductor fuse
rated at 200 amps. The maximum ampere of all the accessories I have on at the
same time was about 100 amps at 12 vdc which is what we call 2.00 service
factor. It is best to not to go over 80% of the rating of any power source.

  Subject: [EVDL] Replacing Auxiliary Battery

I am replacing my auxiliary battery(ies)for my 12 volt system. Presently I
have two group 31 Deka 8G31 (70lbs each) over the front bumper. They were
left over from my old lead days before I converted to Lithium and fit the
spot at the time. My question is "What plays better with the DC to DC
converter. Gel? AGM? or just an old fashion lead auto battery? I need
something with some ump so that I can run my 12vdc to 120vac converter (it
runs my heaters). So just a small 12v will not cut it. I also like to
trickle charge it with a small charger while plugged in and charging the
  Traction Pack. Any suggestions.

  Thanks,

  Buddy Mills
