[Some of this is EV-related and some is not (OT: my status) ]

Today, I went in to my VA cardiologist appointment to meet with my new Dr.
who was taking over for my previous one who had retired (that was the one I
previously mentioned that was leasing a Leaf EV, but had yet to even try
outside public EVSE like a L3 CHAdeMO quick charge).

That mundane trip to the VA was rudely/insanely accosted with a huge (puffy)
silver Dodge-RAM truck loudly honking, demanding others get out of its way.
It had no emergency lights or any other reason to make any legal claim for
that, and since I was caught in a lane that had no way to move out of the
way, that crazed driver was just going to have-to wait.

This was not like out a movie or TV script with someone's life was at risk,
because that driver cut off any chance for me to change lanes, and pulled in
front of me, just to slow us both down so he could accelerate hard in a
feeble attempt of rolling-coal [

] exhaust for me to go through.

Since I have been dealing with a stressing heart condition, I was not going
to get involved with this nut. But really I had no choice as I was on that
driver's agenda to give me grief. From lane changes, to speed up, slow
downs, this insanity continued.

I thought, did someone spray paint the back of my (ice) car with words to
tick this driver off? Whatever the reason, I did not have anything handy to
write their lic. plate# down, so the best I could do was to just stay out of
their way. Finally, after a few 35mph miles of this (?where is cop when you
need them?) that crazed driver turned into a shopping center parking lot
(perhaps to reacquire more deleterious beverages to be imbibed with whatever
they were snorting / popping).

So, I arrived at the VA, and checked, ... nope, no one painted anything on
my the back of my car. As I hobbled my way from the parking lot to my
appointment, I thought, why me? This stuff just seems to happen to me,
perhaps more than other people (an ex-girlfriend said hanging-out with me
was always a 'never-a-dull-moment' experience).

So, though I usually try to keep an upbeat outlook on life, my morning was
pretty much trashed by some chemical-dependent idiot. To top it off, my 7"
[droid tablt], had a [trojn] [

] that placed the word DEMO in red letters [

] in the center of the screen, rendering it useless (yet another 'todo' task
to fix that).

At the pre-appointment weight-in/blood-pressure check, it seems I gained
some pounds while on the new heart medication (it requires I take it with
food, and tears up/sours/upsets my stomach between normal meals). So, I am
taking in more calories than I burn to keep my stomach calm (not-good). So,
yup my day was not going too well for me.

But when my cardiologist Dr. showed up, it was not the new Dr. but the
former Dr. After we yakked about what I was to do in prep for my TEE (chest
paddle shocking) on 1/23, we ended the session by talking EVs ... (yay!).

It turns out, he turned in his leased Leaf (it was a low-cost trim that only
had a 3kW L2 on-board charger), and leased a Kia Soul EV!

He could not say enough about how pleased he was about his EV. More room for
him, his wife and dog, longer range, and the cost reduction discounts we
out-standing ...

I mentioned that his Soul EV had a full 6kW L2 on-board charger, and was
fully compatible with his existing 3kW L2 EVSE he had previously bought to
use with his leased Leaf EV. And that he really ought to use plugshare.com
and try a L3 charge to gain the experience.

I was so happy for him, as he had found an EV that pleased him even more
than the Leaf EV, which he already liked a lot. Before we parted, it was him
that said, 'These EVs just do not have anything to go wrong with them'
(meaning unlike and ice which is a self-destructing beast by design = will
always need replacement parts).

I said yea, its like Mom's old Maytag (washing machine, known to last
forever) ... and he chimed in when I said, 'they just keep going, and going,
and ...'

Well, while I still had a problem with a heart beating at twice its normal
rate, I left the appointment with my EVangel spirit reinvigorated,
re-energized, and ready to continue on. I look forward to after the TEE, so
that I can have a few more years to continue spreading the EV-cause word :-)
