We have a FLIR-ONE IPhone5 case. $225 on eBay. Well worth it. Nifty pictures and nifty apps. Eva already used it in a report. Bent some big aluminum conductors and measured the temperature change cause by bending. More than just a nifty gadget, it is a real IR camera.

Maybe I should take an IR selfie duckface with a grumpy cat, just to do the expected with a cellphone camera. :-)

I had the idea years ago to use one for monitoring a battery pack. Waiting
for a cheap smart phone add-on. I would think you'd be able too see hotter
cells and connections. It would require s/w and learning normal operation
but imagine if it could replace all wires and circuits of a BMS.
