And I found quite timely the Exide ad... after apparently contaminating the neighborhood with lead emissions for years, the company (in bankruptcy) are now permanently shutting down their L.A. recycling plant. The book "Internal Combustion: How Corporations and Governments Addicted the World to Oil and Derailed the Alternatives," written by my friend Edwin Black, has a great and well- researched history of that time period.
