Ed, no one but you can answer your question of course. It will be a lot of work and $ to redo the interior and upgrade components to restore it to anything approaching it's past appearance and ensure it is reliable transportation. Because of that, if it were me, I think I would just keep the memories of when the RX7 wasn't a mouse house and move on.The decision for me would be to convert a newer vehicle in better condition or buy a used Leaf.
The main pluses of purchasing a used Leaf it seems would be better fit and finish than an older vehicle purchased to convert, and it should also be almost trouble-free. It will likely be more vehicle for the money than you can get with doing a conversion (higher quality components, etc). Downside is the older Leafs will not have much range and you have to take it to a dealer to have problems fixed that do occur, which can be expensive if it is out of warranty. The former isn't an issue if the available range fits your requirements. If you choose to convert, you may be able to salvage some existing components from your present conversions, but if they are of questionable quality that may result in an unreliable vehicle that requires ongoing work. If you have other back up transportation, and you like doing that sort of thing, then that isn't an issue either. If you purchase new components the costs may well add up to as much or more than the cost of purchasing a used Leaf. You may even be able to purchase a used Leaf and pay for a new battery for it (~$6k) for about the same cost as a conversion depending on the components you select for the latter and the size of the battery pack. The Leaf is much less work, you just buy it and drive it. Are you willing to put in the time to do another conversion and babysit it if necessary? Depends on how you feel about each of these issues. -- View this message in context: http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/Fix-or-scrap-old-conversions-get-used-Leaf-tp4678380p4678391.html Sent from the Electric Vehicle Discussion List mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org Read EVAngel's EV News at http://evdl.org/evln/ Please discuss EV drag racing at NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA)
