I presume that the two-speed transmission is the required HIGH/LOW gearing for off road vehicles, AKA Highway / Crawl gearing.

Probably not but lots of Australia has plenty of sunshine and a dearth of road. And gas is expensive. So it may have more appeal than most of us in the US think.
