Seth, the title(subject) of your post, while fun, could mislead those that are familiar-with 'Juice Bar' EVSE. 'Juice Bar' EVSE looks like http://www.juicebarev.com/sites/default/files/styles/galleria_zoom/public/777%20Main-10_0.JPG Here is a gallery 'Juice Bar' EVSE pics https://www.instagram.com/juicebarev/ About 12 miles from the EVSE garage site you used is a 'Juice Bar' EVSE site http://www.juicebarev.com/case-study/mount-sinai-medical-center Mount Sinai Medical Center Juice Bar Electric Vehicle Charging Station The EVSE site you used was http://api.plugshare.com/view/location/63533 Jerome-190th Street Municipal Garage which had 3 L2 6kW Eaton 'evconnect' EVSE. evconnect, com is just their network (similar to chargepoint). Their web site shows they partner with several different EVSE brands. At that site, the host chose Eaton EVSE. At other EVSE sites on the evconnect network, you might find they are using other EVSE brands. Looking at the image on that plugshare listing shows that garage management installed two EVSE in disabled/handicap spaces. Since few disabled drive plugins, it may seem like a waste of EVSE to some plugin drivers. But if you plan to use that site again, ask the attendant if any plugin can park & use the EVSE in the disabled spaces. I have seen some sites where they have a (double-duty/use) policy allowing plugins to also use those disabled spaces with EVSE (either you have to ask each time to allow access, or there is signage stating plugins can park there, etc.). evconnect.com EVSE are not always free (nor are 'juicebar' EVSE). EVSE hosts can set their EVSE use-fee to fit their needs/desires. Looks like you were lucky to find one that is free. It is likely the EVSE costs are covered(rolled-into) the parking fees everyone pays. >I gained 11% / 12 miles< If I remember correctly Seth, you have a Leaf with a 6kW on-board charger, and at that site the host is likely providing 208VAC 32A. So, since your pack was not at 80%SOC, according to http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=13008#p295725 If you had stayed a full hour you should have regained: 208VAC@30A regains 21.4mi So you were only parked & charging for about 40 minutes. Since you had to pay for the full hour in parking fees, it might have been more charge-regained and parking-cost effective to unplug and leave just before your hour was up and get the full 21 miles instead of just 14 miles.
