When I bought my Leaf, I got rid of my other car. Now my Leaf is my only
vehicle and it has really changed the way I look at this situation.

I do not drive the Leaf anywhere I can't make the round trip on a single
charge. I rent a car instead. Even if electric vehicle range and infrastructure
become as convenient as ICE vehicle range and infrastructure, I will still rent
a vehicle for trips like yours, or longer.

A rental car is a great insurance policy. Suppose I'm over 100 miles from home
and something happens to the car (accident, mechanical failure, etc.). If it's
my car, I have to figure out how to take care of the situation. I have to get
it to a repair shop and arrange for other transportation while it is being
repaired. The repairs could take days or even weeks. If that is the case, I
must get myself back to the repair shop when my car is fixed. This is a lot of
time and inconvenience.

If I'm in a rental car, I call the rental agency, tell them where I am, and
they bring me another car. I continue with my trip. The rental car agency deals
with the inconvenience.
