Hi Barry, I currently have a Ford Ranger with tilt-up bed and a solid bumper that can be used for towing, I did not take any pics of the tilt mechanism so I can make some based on what you exactly want to see. Before this EV truck I had another one, an S10 which did not have a real bumper, only the skirt wrapped around below the tail gate, but nothing that would support towing or stepping on like this truck does. I do have pics of that S10's tilt mechanism, in essence two large hinges bolted to the end of the frame rails and two flat stock steel plates attached to the bottom of the bed to transfer the force from bed to hinge. It also had two air springs to help raise it since it was a long bed. My current Ranger has a shorter bed and no springs, only two pivot points at the end of the bed and a steel pipe (think broomstick) that rotates on a bolt at the end to prop the bed up.
One common issue on tilt bed conversions is the need to *ground* the bed, if you do not install a wire between bed and frame, your tail lights may or may not work since they are only wired to get power from 12V and the return (ground) is via the bed. Hinges are not a reliable return path. Let me know and I can post some pics of this conversion, made in ~1995 using a 1989 Ranger. Do you have any pictures of the hinges on the tilt bed as well as pictures of the bumper/rear end with the bed up and down? Or a link to the original converter's blog?
