I admire efficient design, and probably lots of other folks here on the EVDL do too. But we have to realize that we're a tiny minority. Most auto buyers insist on living room couch comfort. They actually LIKE riding in a big, heavy, clumsy behemoth, partly because it makes them FEEL safe (whether they really are or not).
Tesla has succeeded because they built luxury EVs that felt and acted like (or better than) equivalent luxury ICEVs, not EVs that felt and acted like the cheapest econoboxes on the road. They saw a market and developed for it. There's a lesson in that. I think if you could develop a reasonably attractive untralight enclosed EV that could sell at a little over the price of a good E-bike, and could show good crash test results, you'd have something. You'd need to do the market research to determine what people would pay, but I suspect it would have to be under $10k. (Hey, it works for the Renault Twizy.)
