It's hard to know what they mean by $9K per car. Does that mean $9K for
actual manufacturing costs? Does it include R&D? Does it take into
account a declining price for batteries? If R&D is amortized, over what
period? What about economy of scale?
It would be nice to see them find a way to claim a profit instead but,
still, it's a pretty meaningless number without the qualifications.

no? It keeps the tooling costs lower.
But GM don't whine about new ICEVs losing money, only new EVs. Gosh, I
wonder why that is.
