be just the ticket

Have you ever thought the Tesla Model X didn’t have enough visual drama… or
perhaps the opposite, that it’s a hideous pustule on the face of the
automotive world?

Whichever way you lean, there’s now an antidote and it’s from an unlikely
source: German exotic car tuner Novitec.

The Californian-made EVs have been tweaked by the European tuner, which has
switched from Lamborghinis and Ferraris to the latest car pinups, the Tesla
Model X SUV and its Model S sedan sibling.

Both cars features subtle bodywork extras that are claimed improved
aerodynamics, comprising a front lip spoiler, side skirts and a rear
diffusers all made from carbon-fibre. There’s also a two rear spoilers to
choose from on the Model X.

Lump in the lower ride height and some very cool 22-inch Vossens alloy
wheels and the Model X begins to develop a touch of visual appeal.

The Tesla Model S gets 21-inch alloy-wheels instead of the Model X’s larger
hoops.

The wheels have a neat trick too: The spokes are specially angled to channel
air onto the brake discs, allegedly cooling the anchors. “Each individual
wheel is manufactured for a specific corner of the car,” says Novitec.

The stoppers are big too, 380mm brake rotors at the front with six-piston
calipers, 360mm rears with four-piston calipers, which should decelerate the
heavy EVs with more immediacy.

But before you ask “Is there now an ‘absurd’ launch mode” for the modified
American EVs, Novitec has only tweaked the cosmetics, ride height, wheel and
brakes. Modifying the computer brain of the Tesla is probably not a priority
because they’re faster to 100km/h than pretty much every other car you can
buy.

Novitec will also create bespoke interiors for customers who want to pour
more money into their ultra-fast Tesla EV, with unlimited colours, materials
and stitching available.
