The midsize EV sedan will join Polestar 1 coupe and a Polestar 3 SUV

Polestar, Volvo's electric performance brand, has now given some insight
into the pricing of its future portfolio, after outlining the product
introduction timeline earlier. The Polestar 2, a midsize electric sedan that
should hit showrooms in 2020, will be priced at 40,000 euros, according to
AutoExpress. That would be about $50,000, although cars in the U.S. market
tend to be less expensive than a strict euro-to-dollar exchange. In any
case, that price tag certainly makes it a rival for better-equipped versions
of the Tesla Model 3. Expect production Polestar 2 photos to be released in
2019.

The Polestar lineup will include the limited-edition, 600-horsepower
Polestar 1 coupe, available from 2019, followed by a "low, aerodynamic" SUV
called the Polestar 3 a couple years later. Both will be manufactured at a
new facility in Chengdu, China. Auto Express says the Polestar 2 sedan would
be manufactured in excess of 50,000 units per year, and there is no
information yet where they would be built. Earlier reports have also
mentioned the possibility of a Polestar 4 by 2020, with rumors indicating
it'll be convertible model.

Starting in 2019, there will be 80 Polestar showrooms, or "Polestar Spaces,"
in addition to online purchasing possibilities. There's also the Care by
Volvo subscription service. The physical showrooms will be separate from
Volvo dealerships to give the new brand a stronger feel of exclusivity, but
Polestar vehicles themselves will still be able to get serviced at select
Volvo dealers.

In the near term, Polestar is preparing to launch the Polestar 1, which will
be produced in a series of only 500 cars per year. To secure one after its
Geneva debut, a tentative buyer needs to pay a 2500-euro "application fee."
So far there have been 10 interested buyers for every one that will be
produced in the first year.

The petrolhead's argument for buying an electric vehicle
February 9 2018 Now, I'm thinking the next vehicle I buy will be electric.
Whether bike or car, battery technology has reached a point where it makes
far more sense than burning fuel that's been shipped halfway around the
world. This is a big step forward for this old petrolhead – and a Pastor at
