There will be a free event where you can test drive a BMW i3, a Honda Clarity, a Chevy Volt or a Toyota Prius Prime. Also you can buy delicious vegetables and meats, and partake in, or contribute to the Market Match program. The market manager of the farmers' market pointed us to this event and it's being organized by the Center for Sustainable Energy, as part of the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project. Here are the details: Benefits of Driving Electric Vehicles on Display at Ukiah Farmers’ Market, Aug. 25 View and test drive new electric cars and learn about rebates Test drive some of the newest models of plug-in electric vehicles (EVs) at the Ukiah Farmers’ Market on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Alex Thomas Plaza at School and Clay streets. This free event is slated to feature the BMW i3, Honda Clarity, Chevrolet Volt and Toyota Prius Prime. Most everyone has seen an EV on the road or in ads, but this is a chance to try one out for free without going to a dealership. Licensed drivers can drive new EVs on a first-come, first-served basis and feel the difference between driving with electricity versus driving a gas-powered car. Stop by the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project’s Drive Clean and Save booth for the test drive and learn about rebates of up to $7,000 for the purchase or lease of new, eligible zero-emission or plug-in hybrid light-duty vehicles. Since 2010, the rebate project has awarded over $550,000,000 for more than 247,000 electric vehicle rebates throughout California. The project is administered by the Center for Sustainable Energy.
