The guy at the counter might not know. You'd have to explicitly say they were nicads; then (maybe) he'd check.

Or, some of these drop-off have been accustomed to just sending everything to China or somewhere, and letting them sort it out. That doesn't work any more.

My worry is that they get so few nicads nowdays that they wouldn't know what they are, or what to do with them. They could wind up just being thrown into the bin with lead-acids or something else.
