I can not cite a specific source off the top of my head but Teslas have a far less probability of burning than ICEs. I've NEVER heard of a Tesla "blowing up".
Shop around for better informed, more intelligent taxi drivers. Don't you have EV only services in Las Vegas? There are quite a few around though they tend to be up scale.
