Found the old post!

"Audi 4000 springs will add about an inch of height to a VW Rabbit."
"According to wikipedia, the 4000 was a US market model number used in 1980 to 1987 for the car marketed in Europe as the Audi 80. The same car was sold as the VW quantum (US name, Passat in Europe) '82 to '88."

Since converting my car from lead to lithium, I've shaved about 600 pounds from the overall weight of the car, mostly from the rear axle load. Of course, this means that the rear end is up in the air due to the over-large rear coil springs that the conversion factory installed.

Last weekend, I installed a set of OEM springs from a Rabbit that I tore apart at the recycle yard. Obviously, with 1,100 pounds on the rear axle, the car is now slammed in the back, not badly, but I need to get about 1-1/2" of lift to be level all around. Next step is to build some custom spring perches to get that inch-and-a-half I need.

I know it's a long shot, but some of the members here seem to have garages filled with vintage EV conversion stuff, so I thought I'd check before starting on the perches.

Does anyone have some after-market upgrade rear springs for the Rabbit/Jetta/Scirocco/Cabriolet? Maybe something that came in a kit from (dare I say their name?) Electro Automotive, etc?

Air bag helper springs would be my next choice, but a bigger fabrication project.

Anyone?
