It does seem that way to me, too. As a short term stop-gap safety
measure, I support it. But it indicates the endemic and inadequate
condition of the infrastructure and does nothing to mitigate the problem
in the future. What is PG&E going to do for minimizing the risk of fire
in the first place ? Doing nothing relegates them to 3rd world status.

They call it "Public Safety Power Shutoff" (PSPS) thus shifting the blame to
the public while in reality it is Investor Protection Power Shutoff. They should be
calling it IPPS.
This is crazy! 74% of our electric utility bill here in Mendocino County is "PG&E Electric
Delivery Charges". The other 26% is for "Sonoma Clean Power Electric Generation Charges".
3/4 of our bill goes to support an infrastructure that PG&E chooses to shut down in order to protect
their investors. We are being charged three times as much to deliver the energy than it costs to generate
it.
Investor Owned Public Utilities should be illegal!
