25-30 miles is about right for the ComutaVan in its stock form, when
used in heavy stop-and-go driving. Or 50-60 miles if driven in normal
traffic.
The fundamental problem with the ComutaVan is that they were very crude
vehicles. They had poorer handling, a harsher ride, and were harder to
drive than the alternative Jeep DJ-5 postal ICEs.
But there have been postal EVs that were clearly superior to the ICE
DJ5's. AM General themselves built an EV version that was very good.
Otis (the old Baker Electric) and Smith's (the British firm that made
the EV milk floats) also built versions that were quite good.
