No, we do not keep the Tesla computer to run the car, we have developed our own bespoke controller we call the "CANslator". It acts like a translator that talks on multiple CAN buses and speaks Tesla on one side, and Ram ProMaster on the other. This replaces the ECM (Engine Computer) in the ProMaster and the rest of the van "thinks" it's still got an engine, so everything works right, and on the Tesla side, the Drive unit and Battery think the rest of the Tesla is still there, so they operate normally. This took over 2 years to develop and make reliable and solid.
