Tim,

You can now rent EVs to Turo, a car owner's rental service with insurance
around the states. A couple months ago I rented a Fiat 500e for a one-day
business trip in Southern California and it cost less for car and fuel than
a gas car. I have rented a variety of EVs in the SF Bay Area years ago when
I was trying to decide what to replace my Leaf with.

Can find a lot of charging stations using Plugshare. Lots of options for
travel even outside of California.
