that's what i don't understand. if you're paying attention, how can autopilot cause an accident ?
to compare it to aviation autopilot, the pilot can "over muscle" the autopilot easily. if that were to fail for some reason, the autopilot can be quickly disabled. in other words, if you're driving and auto pilot starts to send you out of your lane, it should be trivial to correct it back to where you want to be. what an i not understanding ? peri << Do leaf blowers annoy you ? http://quietcleanseattle.org >> ________________________________ From: jim--- via EV <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, August 18, 2021 07:27 To: Electric Vehicle Discussion List Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [EVDL] EVLN: NHTSA to investigate Tesla / Emergency Vehicle Crashes > The US government has opened a formal investigation into Tesla´s driver- > assistance system known as Autopilot after a series of collisions with > parked emergency vehicles. Whether there is an issue that makes it more likely for a Tesla on AutoPilot to drive into emergency lights, I wonder how many of those crashes would have been prevented if the driver was paying attention and had their hands on the wheel so they could override the AP? As I recall (and I don't have a Tesla), the driver is required to keep his / her hands on the wheel at all times. 73 ----- Jim Walls - K6CCC [email protected] _______________________________________________ Address messages to [email protected] No other addresses in TO and CC fields UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub ARCHIVE: http://www.evdl.org/archive/ LIST INFO: http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
