At present the system is really only a fancy driver assist. At times it may
look like it is 'self driving' without human driver input, even for minutes
at a time, but if anything goes wonky (road markings, weather, sensors,
software), it can very quickly abort with a 'take over immediately'
message. The system relies on the human driver to be paying close attention
at all times as the fallback. There is plenty of room for improvement with
regard to failure mode handling, some of which may need additional software
and/or hardware redundancy.

The safest condition in which to use the system is on familiar controlled
access freeways with stable traffic flow conditions. Definitely not near
unusual areas, which include walkers and bikers, construction zones and
vehicles on the side of the road, or sharp curves, or any areas you've seen
it have problems in the past. Narrow lanes with nearby obstacles are risky.
Highways without railings near cliffs are risky.

In other words, it is safest to only use it where there will be enough
space and time for you to react, and regain control, if the system suddenly
decides to 'let go of the wheel'. Treat the system as a novice driver that
needs supervision and assistance, and who may get confused when things
aren't exactly 'by the book'.
