Adding TLS encryption where it's not needed chews up more CPU cycles at both ends of the transaction, no? That's wasted energy and a little more CO2, no? (Obligitory EV content: use that energy for your EV instead!) IMO, a web browser that can't or won't speak the web's fundamental protocol is broken. Searching for the terms <browser name> disable https redirection may turn up a way to fix yours. Or, you could try using a different browser. No guarantees, but I've had zero problems so far with Waterfox Classic, Pale Moon, and (last resort) Ungoogled Chromium.
