Dear friends and colleagues, Last week I responded to a beautiful lengthy post by Christine Koehler, regarding translation at a 5-day Open Space she facilitated. At that time, I expressed with sadness how much I missed these multiple day open space face-to-face gatherings. Fearing that in the frenzy of these times, people no longer want to commit over many days, with overnight time to sleep on it.
Yesterday, I was reminded once again how wonderful it can be in Open Space even though time is short. Five hours in deep conversation on : Grieving and Thriving: How do we make space for grief in the workplace? Ten wonderful topics, profound caring conversations about life merging with work, in the heartache of what we have experienced during COVID and how it has changed us and how we view the workplace. Thank you to the team : Harold Shinsato, Jaclyn Lee, Rijon Erickson, Bill Aal, Kári Gunnarsson, Kennan Salinero, Helene Cahen and Annick Corriveau for all the love and care you put in hosting this gathering, including simultaneous translation in English, French and Chinese. Though we were a relatively small group, the quality, vulnerability, hope and deep connection restored my faith in Open Space wherever and whenever it happens. Suzanne (in Canada now)
